About the Blogger

I'm Laurie. I work with Why, you ask? Let me explain...

From the time I was small I thought in terms of being prepared in case of trouble. I even had a 'hidey hole' picked out in my house. It was in a big linen closet with shelves so deep my mom had to stack the clean linen close to the front so she could reach it. That left this wonderful space behind that stacked linen for a kid to hide out in if needed. I showed it to my sister and told her if she ever got scared she could go to my secret place.

Now, as a grown up, I still think in terms of being prepared in case of trouble. That trouble could come in the form of oil price hikes making electricity hard to afford, weather disaster from tornadoes to hurricanes, earthquakes in certain areas of the country, even a drunk driver taking out the power pole and transformer serving my home. And with world tensions like they are there's an undercurrent of worry about a grid down scenario wiping out power for who knows how long.

i am also a flower child at heart. I love this planet. It is such a beautiful place. I want to take care of it. Protect it. So, I have an interest in green energy. At this time the world seems to be moving steadily toward renewable energy sources. Solar, wind, geothermal are all being studied and implemented at a fast pace. I love it.

When you combine my past interest with my present one you can see the blend of being prepared for a possible power loss/grid down situation using a backup source of green energy. Having a portable solar generator on hand in case of power loss guarantees a source of power for recharging cell phones, laptops and more. You'll be able to stay in contact with others and get information on the state of power recovery. Perfect.

Peace of mind ahead of time.

That's what is all about.
